“The One That Is Lost”

So he told them this parable: “Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”

Luke 15:3-7

How many times has the burden just seemed too much to carry on your shoulders? Let go, and let God direct you. Realize that any good that comes from your life, has come through God.

We grow weary and know that the end of our efforts are not near. You know that you can no longer carry out your tasks. Pray on it. Maybe God will help you in your present state, or maybe he is testing you by fire, and preparing you for another place. That place might be here or in heaven. Learn to walk with your arms outstretched to our heavenly Father, who will walk beside you and I, and we can always ask Him to carry us. Trust Him to do that.

He will lay us on His shoulder as a shepherd carries the lamb that was lost. There He will joyfully carry us all day long, for we are little and light, and are no burden to Him. Find your rest on the shoulder of Jesus Christ. Our Lord provides safety for us, all of our days.

The God who holds the universe

is the God who is holding you.
