“The Mouth Of The LORD

 Has Spoken”

Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that she has served her term, that her penalty is paid, that she has received from the LORD’s hand double for all her sins.

A voice cries out: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”

Isaiah 40:1-5

Our Messiah wears a different kind of glory than most kings. He wears the glory of humility. The God who roared, who if He so desired could order armies and empires about like pawns, this God emerged in Bethlehem as a baby in a manger, without the trappings of power.

Rulers come through with bodyguards, fanfare and fancy jewelry. In contrast, God’s visit to earth took place in an animal shelter, with no attendants present and nowhere to lay the newborn King but a feed trough. In fact there were probably more animal witnesses, than human, and yet the event has divided history.

In Christ, God veiled His deity to serve and save humanity.
