Provoke One Another To Love
And
Good Deeds
Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter
the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened
for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a
great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and
our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to the confession of our
hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider
how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet
together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the
more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:19-25
Have you ever run a marathon? You are practically at the
end. You know you do not have one ounce of strength left. Your legs hurt. Your
head is pounding. The sweat is dripping down your face. You just want to cry. You
just want to die.
It is amazing to watch exhausted runners brighten and
pick up the pace when they see someone they know or hear their name called out.
We all need encouragement, especially in our walk of
faith. The book of Hebrews tells us to keep urging each other on. The New Testament is
filled with certainty that Christ will return soon. As we see that Day
approaching, keep cheering each other on in the faith. You are almost there.
The finish line is almost in sight. Christ is coming for us, and to us. We look
at Him coming to earth. Turn it around. You are going to Him, in less time than
you think.
Even if you have nothing else to give, you
can give encouragement.
