Make Haste

To Help Me!

Be pleased, O God, to deliver me. O LORD, make haste to help me! Let those be put to shame and confusion who seek my life. Let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who desire to hurt me. Let those who say, “Aha, Aha!” turn back because of their shame.

Let all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let those who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great!” But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay!

Psalm 70:1-5

Waiting! It is not something we are good at. We wait in line for groceries. We wait in traffic. We wait in doctor’s offices. We even act on our own without waiting for the LORD to guide and direct us. What we wait for is far less important than what God is doing while we wait. He works in us to develop hard-to-achieve spiritual values of meekness, kindness, and patience with others.

Think about it. Moses took the Jews into the desert and God made them wait for forty years. The world waited thousands of years for Jesus Christ. Our waiting is just a speck of dust in the eye of God, who will do things for us, in His time. But understand, He is with us, at all times.

God stretches our patience to enlarge our soul.
