All We Can Ask Or Imagine
For this reason I bow my
knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes
its name. I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that
you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and
grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all
the saints, what is the breadth and length and height
and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you
may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to him who by the
power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we
can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all
generations, forever and ever. Amen
Ephesians
3:14-21
Do you like surprises?
Would you ever dare to say to God, “Surprise me!” A
lot of us are more than a little scared to do that. Yes, we have faith that God
is good and that He loves us. Yet we are afraid we won’t like what He chooses
for us.
Throughout the Bible we
read that God delights in doing the unexpected. Sometimes it’s folding back the
water for His people to cross a sea on dry ground. Or forgiving and embracing
those who repent of their sin. Jesus’ time on earth was filled with amazing
events that pointed people to His Father – He turned water into wine, calmed
storms, healed the sick, and raised the dead, and rose from the dead.
What kind of God do we
serve? One who is not confined to our finite imagination.
God’s thoughts and ways are not like ours. He wants to bless us with far more.
He delights in His children who trust Him and simply say, “Surprise me!”
Those
who let God provide will always be satisfied.
