The Human Mind
Plans The Way,
But The LORD
Directs The Steps
The plans of the mind belong to
mortals, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. All one’s ways may be
pure in one’s own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the
LORD, and your plans will be established. The LORD has made everything for its
purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble. All those who are arrogant are
an abomination to the LORD; be assured, they will not go unpunished. By loyalty
and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the LORD one avoids
evil. When the ways of people please the LORD, he causes even their enemies to
be at peace with them. Better is a little with righteousness than large income
in injustice. The human mind plans the way, but the LORD directs the steps.
We can plan our lives, but it will be
God who really has the plan for our lives. Seek His plan, not your plan. God
may very well have laid a different course for you. Through His clear leading,
and in accordance with the gifts He gives us, we can live our lives glorifying
Him better. He does not want us to fail. He gives us the tools to carry out
what He wants us to be.
Most of us think ahead and carefully
work out a plan. We picture in our minds in great detail how our future is
going to unfold. But things do not go as planned. Some doors close, while
others open. If this happens to you, it may be that God has something
completely different in mind for you.
It is good to plan and dream and think
ahead. But we must always be open to God-appointed changes in direction.
God will never mislead us. When we
trust Him with all our heart, He will direct our paths. His way is always best.
Where God’s
finger points, His hand will make the way.
