The God

 Of Abraham

Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy. For the LORD, the Most High, is awesome, a great king over all the earth. He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet. He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah

God has gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the king of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm.

God is king over the nations; God sits on his holy throne. The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted.

Psalm 47:1-9

When you think of the word “awesome” what comes to mind? The dictionary has defined it as “deeply reverent.” Think about watching a sunset or sunrise at the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Think about a whole series of thunderheads and the lightning bolts which can come down continuously in a summer storm. Think about the soft smell of a baby. Think about the soft fur on your dog. Think about dancing across a floor with your spouse with the right music, the right floor, and the right moment. All can be described as “awesome.”

If you really want to think “awesome” – think about the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe, our God, and the fact that He knows each one of us.

Nothing is more awesome

than to know God.
