Right In The Sight

 Of The LORD

Now in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam began to reign over Judah. He reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom. He committed all the sins that his father did before him; his heart was not true to the LORD his God, like the heart of his father David. Nevertheless for David’s sake the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him, and establishing Jerusalem; because David did what was right in the sight of the LORD, and did not turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

1 Kings 15:1-5

Asa did what was right in the sight of the LORD, as his father David had done.

1 Kings 15:11

Be honest with yourself and with God. Be honest about the evil that is in good people. The Bible does not cover up the flaws of His chosen people, why should you?

Don’t excuse bad behavior, don’t minimize failures, and don’t look the other way. God reports the sin, judges the sin, measures out the consequences, and forgives it.

God knows the heart of everyone, and He is no respecter of persons. Although the truth of sin can be painful, when it is confessed and forgiven, it can be used to turn our hearts toward God.

You can’t put your sins behind you

until you are willing to face them.
