Our Citizenship
Is In Heaven
But our citizenship is in heaven, and
it is from there that we are expecting a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will
transform the body of our humiliation that it may be conformed to the body of
his glory, by the power that also enables him to make all things subject to
himself. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, whom I love and long for, my joy
and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved.
If you are still young and energetic,
you may find it difficult to sympathize with the feelings that afflict many
older people. But those who have passed the midpoint on life’s journey and have
begun to descend can still enjoy the prospect of what lays ahead. We all face
the sunset of our life on this earth, but as we do, it will be a new day
dawning in heaven.
We will be restored. All the people we
have loved in this life, and have passed on, will again be alive with us in
heaven.
So no matter where we are on the
heavenward pilgrimage, if we are walking with Jesus we can rejoice. And since
we know that our faithful Father will abide in us until our journey on earth
has ended, we can actually be thankful for the lengthening shadows and the
setting sun.
To live is
Christ; to die is gain.
