A Clear Conscience

Therefore I do my best always to have a clear conscience toward God and all people.

Acts 24:16

Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.

Ephesians 4:31-32

Like physical pain to our bodies, our conscience alerts us to spiritual harm. But habitual and unrepentant sin can numb the conscience. To keep a clear conscience, we need to respond to the pain of appropriate guilt by confession, and restitution to others.

Like Jesus, we should not grow numb to God’s painful reminder of sin but allow it to produce in us godly character.

A clear conscience

 is a soft pillow.
