A Capable Wife
A capable wife who can find? She is far more precious than
jewels.
Proverbs 31:10
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the
time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is
on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat
the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her happy; her husband
too, and he praises her; “Many women have done excellently, but your surpass
them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the
LORD is to be praised. Give her a share in the fruit of her hands, and let her
works praise her in the city gates.
Proverbs 31:25-31
Many people have been richly blessed by what they learned at
their mother’s knee. God fearing mothers have taught their children: to subdue
self-will in a child and work together with God; Teach them to pray as soon as
they can speak; Give them nothing they cry for and only what is good for them
if they ask politely; to prevent lying punish no fault that is freely
confessed, but never allow a rebellious, sinful act to go unchecked; Commend
and reward good behavior; strictly observe all promises you have made to your
child. Honor your godly mother today, not only with words of praise for them
but with lives that reflect the impact of their holy influence!
The virtues of mothers are visited on
their children.
