We Know

Only In Part

Love never ends. But as for prophesies, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end. For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part; but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:8-13

When I was a child I needed glasses. I was nearsighted. The prescriptions got higher. And then they started to level off. And as the prescriptions began to level off and decrease I needed a new prescription, this time for bifocals, one prescription to see closer and one to see in the distance. Without glasses my eyesight is impaired. Such is our understanding of the Word of God. We have seen His Word as a Child, we see it again as a young adult, and as we age we see it again. Our spiritual vision can be impaired. In our earthly state, our vision is impaired. As we age, however, our view of God can change and He becomes much more close and personal. We can see Him acting closely in our lives and we can see Him acting in the distance. Age does not have to be a bad thing, if you have Jesus as your Savior. Age helps to see what He does in your life better.

If you have questions about what God is doing in your life, continue to trust Him and seek clarity through prayer and His Word.

For now, our understanding is limited. Our current spiritual vision is impaired, but in eternity we will see clearly.

We now see Jesus in the Bible,

but in eternity, face to face.
