The Word

 Of Our God

 Will Stand Forever

A voice says, “Cry out!” And I said, “What shall I cry?” All people are grass, their constancy is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the LORD blows upon it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.

Isaiah 40:6-8

Centuries ago, Julius Caesar set fire to his ships in the Alexandrian harbor to prevent them from falling into enemy hands. The fire spread to the docks, and soon the naval arsenal, was in flames. The arsenal was the location for the knowledge of the world. The library had something like 400,000 precious scrolls. All destroyed. But the Word of God has survived, book-burnings, riots, revolutions, persecutions, and catastrophes. Scholars have told us that the manuscripts have been accurately preserved through millennia of copying.

God inspired the writing of Scripture and has promised to preserve it through the centuries. Next time you open your Bible, take a moment to reflect on how precious it is, and thank God for keeping it safe for you.
