The Righteous

 Will Never Be Moved

They rise in the darkness as a light for the upright; they are gracious, merciful, and righteous. It is well with those who deal generously and lend, who conduct their affairs with justice. For the righteous will never be moved; they will be remembered forever. They are not afraid of evil tidings; their hearts are firm, secure in the LORD. Their hearts are steady, they will not be afraid; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes. They have distributed freely, they have given to the poor; their righteousness endures forever; their horn is exalted in honor.

Psalm 112:4-9

Have you ever thought about the “good old days?” Those times when you were younger, had more money, a faster car, a younger wife, power? Those things do not last. They change every day, and can be replaced with poverty, isolation, weakness and pain.

When we realize that this world and everything in it is unstable and unpredictable, we are left longing for something that lasts, like eternal life with our Father in heaven.

Nothing that happens in this world can take that away. It endures when life has stripped us of every other possession. This righteousness is ours as we draw near to God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is our rock and our salvation and the only source of true and lasting happiness.

Delight in the Lord and in His Word, and you will find true happiness. He alone offers a righteousness that endures for all eternity.

Happiness is ours

when we delight in the Lord.
