Tested As We Are
Since, then, we have a great high
priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold
fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to
sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been
tested as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore approach the throne of
grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in
time of need.
Empathy is a strong emotion. Unless
you have been there you cannot possibly understand what someone else is going
through. Jesus knows what it means to live a life on earth. He did so. He was
one of us, but He was also the Son of God. He did not sin as we do, but He knew
suffering, first hand. Who better to guide us as we go through the wonderful
adventure of life?
Jesus understands our struggles and
weaknesses. He knows what we are going through, for he endured this life
Himself. As we receive His grace in our time of need, we are better able to
come alongside others.
No one
understands like Jesus.
