Know

That The LORD Is God

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come into his presence with singing.

Know that the LORD is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.

For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 100:1-5

When Thomas Jefferson helped draft the Declaration of Independence he was distressed by the sin he saw in America. At one point he noted that he trembled for the country when he reflected that God was just, knowing that God would judge.

The founding fathers of the United States loved the concept of individual freedom, but they did not have in mind the permissive lifestyle that allows us to do almost anything we please today.

Today, recommit yourself to living and loving as one of God’s people. That is the way to enjoy true freedom.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.
