Clothe Yourselves With Compassion

As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with loves, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:12-17

Most of us were taught the words “please” and “thank you” at an early age. At that early age we also knew the word “no.” We didn’t always know what it meant but we knew it was there. As we grow older we may become more adept at using our pleases and thank you phrases in dealing with people. But the question is this – do we still say “please” to our God and forget to say “thank you?” And do we say “no” when we should trust God to provide us with the way to say “yes.” We sometimes petition more than praise.

God will constantly invite us to come to Him with all of our needs, and He also urge us to make gratitude more than a habit.

We can bring honor and glory to God

by giving thanks where it is due – to God!
