The Righteous Flourish

The righteous flourish like the palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God. In old age they still produce fruit; they are always green and full of sap, showing that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Psalm 92:12-15

No matter what your age, being righteous is important. You may forget things as you grow older, but God does not forget you. In fact, growing old may be the hardest task we face in this life. Growing old can be about losses. Earlier in life we live to acquire things. But as we age, we lose our strength, looks, friends, and our jobs. We may lose our wealth, home, children, spouse, and our independence. Possibly the greatest thing we lose is our sense of dignity and self-worth.

But there is one thing you and I will never lose – the love of God. As righteous people we will flourish in the courts of our God. We will still bear fruit in our old age.

God’s love never grows old.
