Pray In The Holy Spirit

…for they said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, indulging their own ungodly lusts.” It is these worldly people, devoid of the Spirit, who are causing divisions. But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit;

Jude 1:18-20

Sometimes we are told to do things which are counter-intuitive, meaning they go against common sense. Jesus urged His followers to do the same. He urged them to do what was right in God’s sight, not in their own. Contrary to some who really believe this, we are not number one. God is number one.

Wanting something doesn’t make it good. Achieving something doesn’t make it valuable. And having strong feelings about something doesn’t make it right. As Jude wrote, those who follow their own desires and instincts lead others into conflict and division.

The alternative is to be spiritual, which means doing what does not come naturally. In fact, it requires supernatural strength that only God can give.

You can trust your instincts when you are trusting Christ.
