Always Be Ready To Make Your Defense

Now who will harm you if you are eager to do what is good? But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated, but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence. Keep your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who abuse you for your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if suffering should be God’s will, than to suffer for doing evil.

1 Peter 3:13-17

We are all called to witness. You have very little time to do that, and yet your words may make a lasting impression on someone else. If you are asked why there is hope in you, be prepared to respond. The Greek term for “reason” is apology. That does not mean giving an excuse, it means giving a convincing argument. Apologetics is not an apology, it defines your beliefs.

Witnessing is not about words, it is about actions. You have to give the Christian way of life the test. You have to try it out by putting your faith in God, and relying on Him. Don’t think that because you aren’t a philosopher or a scholar that you can’t be an apologist. You can bear witness to the truth and power of the gospel. Your life can be your own best argument – your best defense of your faith in Jesus Christ.

Put your faith into practice.

Let people see the difference Jesus makes.
