“I Am The Gate”
So again Jesus said to them, “Very
truly, I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are
thieves and bandits; but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate.
Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find
pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they
may have life, and have it abundantly.
Gates keep things in and they keep
things out. We are kept out of the kingdom of God unless we enter through the
gate provided by Jesus. Once inside the gated area we are protected, forever.
Some shepherds build a stockade to
keep the sheep in. There is no gate, but the sheep have to pass under the
shepherd. And when the shepherd sleeps, he sleeps in the opening. Nothing can
get in or out unless they pass him. Such is the case with Jesus.
Jesus is the only way into heaven. We
gain entrance only by putting our faith in Him.
There are many
ways to hell, but only one way to heaven.
