What Is Your Life?

Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a town and spend a year there, doing business and making money." Yet you do not even know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wishes, we will live and do this or that." As it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, commits sin.

James 4:13-17

Were you able to accomplish everything you set out to do in 2003? Even the best laid plans get sidetracked with things we have no control over. The last twelve months have brought you happiness and sadness, success and failure. The unforeseen twists and turns of life can discourage us, or they can cause us to draw closer to our Lord and depend more on Him.

Enter into the New Year by submitting all of your plans to the LORD and then depend on Him to help you accomplish all that He wants you to do.

The right kind of planning, according to the apostle James, recognizes the unpredictability of life and the need to include God at the center of our planning. Our lives are like vapor trails. Here for the briefest of moments. What will you do with your brief time?
