The Better Part

Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to him and asked, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me." But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Martha has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her."

Luke 10:38-42

Most of the time we are pretty happy people. But there are times when our daily tasks and responsibilities get the best of us. There just seems to be too much to do. When that happens, we do have options. We can enter our shell of inactivity. We can slug our way through, or we can regain our perspective by turning to Our Lord. Remind yourself of what Jesus said to Martha when she needed to think and do the important things.

Are you overwhelmed? Don’t lose sight of your priorities. Spend time with the Lord. He will lift your load and give you the right perspective.

To keep your life in balance,

lean on the Lord.
