Show Every Courtesy

To Everyone

Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show every courtesy to everyone. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, despicable, hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. This Spirit he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs to the hope of eternal life. The saying is sure.

Titus 3:1-8

Election days are special to Americans. We can make a difference. We can vote anyway we want, and move on. We should urge our politicians to do the same. Urge them to fight a clean fight, without tearing each other down. We should let them know that is important to do good in the world, and that we, as Christians, love what is good. We should urge them to be shining examples as witnesses, and they should teach what is good, and do what is good.

We, as Americans, and as Christians have a remarkable responsibility. We are to do what is good for people, regardless of whether we approve of their values or their policies. It may not be easy, but it is the right thing to do.

Christians can be constructive

if they refuse to be destructive.
