Risked Their Necks

I commend you to our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church in Cenchreae, so that you may welcome her in the Lord as is fitting for the saints, and help her in whatever she may require from you, for she has been a benefactor of many and of myself as well.

Greet Prisca and Aquila, who work with me in Christ Jesus, and who risked their necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. Greet also the church in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert in Asia for Christ.

Romans 16:1-5

We may be performing unnoticed tasks as we support the Church’s mandate to spread the gospel and train believers. Without many volunteers, no church or mission agency could do its ministry effectively. Paul closed this letter by giving thanks to the many volunteers who appear no place else in scripture. You don’t have to always be visible in what you do, you just have to do. Your service to Christ is essential. Even if no one shows appreciation for your hard work, you can be sure that one day the Lord will reward you.

No service for Christ goes unnoticed by Him.
