They Spoke The Message

That Came From God

So we are even more confident of the message proclaimed by the prophets. You will do well to pay attention to it, because it is like a lamp shining in a dark place until the Day dawns and the light of the morning star shines in your hearts. Above all else, however, remember that no one can explain by himself a prophecy in the Scriptures. For no prophetic message ever came just from the will of man, but men were under the control of the Holy Spirit as they spoke the message that came from God.

2 Peter 1:19-21

In World War II there were a group of Navajo Indians in the Army who were given special training. They devised a code, in their native tongue. They were called "windtalkers." No enemy could break the code. For 23 years after the war, that secret code remained classified in case it might be needed again.

By contrast, the Bible was not sent down to us in some unbreakable code that was impossible to understand. Its message is clear and unmistakable. The biblical writers were moved by God's Spirit to record exactly what He wanted us to know. For centuries people have been freed from their sin and guilt by believing His message. We owe a great debt to the "windtalkers" but an even greater debt to the writers of Scripture, who received God's Word and wrote it down. Read it often.

If you are blind to the truth, read the Bible.

It is an eye-opener.
